Initial situation: the worldwide largest automotive supplier wanted to better integrate suppliers into the own value chain and thus help them to reduce unit costs to a globally competitive level. The company selected MATT & PARTNER as an internationally renowned expert in the field of logistics and business operation and therefore enrolled us to conduct the supplier development program in Italy.
Consulting approach: in several projects, the value streams of different suppliers were analysed. The objective was to reduce lead times and work in process (WIP) as well as the elimination/reduction of non value adding process steps. The principles of the “Toyota Production System” were customized to the individual company’s requirements and implemented in pilot areas.
Results: lead times and WIP could be reduced by 20% to 50%, productivity or process efficiency were improved by up to 40% in many areas. Our client was so happy about the obtained results that MATT&PARTNER will be entrusted with further projects in Eastern Europe.
